At Father & Son I dealt with my father's artistic work with the help of my still young passion 'filming and photography'.
My father was a successful graphic designer and "on the side", I think he was mainly an artist at heart. He was a trained wood turner and typesetter and after studying design he didn't take the step to the academy in Düsseldorf, but settled down as a graphic designer keeps pursuing his dream or his passion.
I have been surrounded by his work all my life, have often practiced, rehearsed and also recorded in his studio and all the while his work and inspiration buzzed around me.
However, the idea of creating a symbiosis or an interdisciplinary art project only came to me shortly before his death.
At that time I started filming and photographing various atmospheres, surfaces and abstracts with the ulterior motive of using them for collages.
Then I dared to work on my father's works. A fund of about 500 drawings, small objects, typographies, prints, collages and polaroids was offered to me. I photographed everything in different ways and started to create collages myself, partly with my videos. The result is 10 videos, each showing different techniques and variations of his work paired with my music.
